Steps to Replace a Door Knob

  • Screwdriver (typically Phillips or flathead)

  • Replacement doorknob

  • Optional: Tape to hold screws in place


2. Remove the Old Knob


  • Locate and remove the screws securing the interior side of the doorknob.

  • Pull apart the two halves of the doorknob and set them aside.

  • Remove the latch mechanism by unscrewing it from the edge of the door.


3. Install the New Knob


  • Insert the new latch mechanism into the door's edge.

  • Align the exterior and interior doorknob halves on either side of the door.

  • Secure them with screws, ensuring they are tight and aligned.


4. Test the Functionality


  • Check that the latch moves smoothly, and the knob turns easily.

  • Adjust screws if necessary for a snug fit.
